Once there was a Cook working in a restaurant. His cooking style was so famous. People from all corners of the city and far off places use to visit this restaurant just to relish the food prepared by this Cook.
The Cook was very happy. So the owner. Things were going like this. Had it continued like this, we wouldn't have discussed it now.
One fine day, the assistant Cook asked the Chief Cook, why can't he start his own restaurant. He further told this guy that the crowd is coming to this resto only because of his cooking style. This assistant cook prevailed upon him to such extent, the Cook immediately decided to setup his own Restaurant. Despite the Resto owner's words of caution, he moved on.
The new restaurant was opened. The crowds started coming in. Alas! The coffer was as empty as the food vessels! The owner turned cook could not make it what went wrong!!! He went back to his old master and asked www (What went wrong!)?
The owner told this cook, 'look my dear, you may be the best cook. Yet you are not possessing the qualities of a good administrator or manager. they require very much different skills. All your monies have been swindled by your team. You were not able to manage the show properly. You were only concentrating at the kitchen. You dont know what was the quantity supplied and what was the quantity billed. Net result. You are standing here! Grow up my boy. Come back!.
The Cook had no other option to return and continue ever thereafter.
Lesson / Moral of the Story: You may be excellent at your work, what you are doing. But that does not mean that you can manage the whole thing. You need a different mettle and mindset to be a Manager / Administrator.
